Vopalensky, Vopal, Piemeisel and related families
Dedication This website is dedicated to Miloslav Cizek, Michal Vopalensky and Jaroslava Paulusova. Thank you Miloslav Cizek for the treasure, the Dusejov book. Thank you Michal Vopalensky for contacting Katy J. Vopal and Susan Chapman, after seeing Katy J. Vopal's website. Thank you to Jaroslava Paulosova for writing the Dusejov book, and thank you for your generosity, friendship, and making many people's dreams come true. You have all helped us to understand our ancestral roots, culture and heritage; and meet our Czech relatives. Thank you for bridging the gap between our hearts and our ancestors homeland.
Jan Vopalensky Family
Welcome to the www.Vopalensky.biz website. My name is Susan Chapman, and this website contains my mothers genealogy. There are links on the right to my fathers and husband's genealogies. I have been working on the family history for many years, collecting family history memorabilia since my childhood. This website is my way of sharing my research with family and friends. My mother Lorraine Vopalensky Bigalke was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, and married Chester Bigalke. Her parents are Joseph Vopalensky and Mary Piemeisel Vopalensky. My great-grandfather, Jan Vopalensky and grandfather, Joseph Vopalensky were born in Dusejov, Czech Republic and immigrated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA in 1891. My great-grandfather, Joseph Piemeisel was born in Puclice #24 (Putzlitz), Czech Republic; married Anna Steinbach Piemeisel of Maly Malahov #4 (Klein Mallowa), Czech Republic; and immigrated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA in 1882. In 1998, I visited Dusejov, Puclice and Maly Malahov. In Dusejov, Miloslav Cizek gave me a Czech book about the history of Dusejov, written by Jaroslava Paulusova. Because of this book, other researchers visited the Czech Republic. In 2007 the author of this book, visited many of the cities in the USA where the emigrants from Dusejov and surrounding villages, had settled. Hopefully, she will write a Czech book that families in the Czech Republic will know where their relatives settled in the USA. This site includes the genealogies of many families that immigrated from Dusejov and surrounding villages, to the USA. Often these families arrived together on the same ship, or were neighbors, or their children married each other. Someday, I hope to find out how all the Vopalensky and Piemeisel families in the United States of America (Ameriky) are related.

REASEARCHERS
Other researchers that have done extensive research regarding families from the villages near Dusejov: Nancy Russell Anderson, Jinny Hopp, Arlo and Doreen Duba, Richard Maresh, Margery Mitchell, Mae Sazama, Jerry Braza, Trent Fischer, etc. And researchers regarding the Piemeisel family include: John Pavlekovich, David Pagel, Charles Dusbabeck etc. Links to some of their sites are included on the right column of the page.
Katy J. Vopal, is also a descendant of Jan Vopalensky of Milwaukee. Katy J. has had a website since 1998 about her family at http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Atrium/7112/, unfortunately in 2009 geocities removed the website. In 1998 I had provided her with the family tree and many family photographs, and with her storytelling creativity and additional photographs, she created a website about the family. She has recently completed a doctorate in Creative Writing. She is the storyteller in the family and has written many stories about the family. To contact Katy J. Vopal please
send an email.

Thank you to the many relatives for sharing your photographs and stories. In the early 1990's, Caroline Fischer Goetz, Clara Vopalensky Ueberfluss, Margaret Vopalensky, Chester Vopal and my mom, Lorraine Vopalensky Bigalke; allowed me to make color photocopies of many of their old family photographs. I had also met with James Vopal, Elmer Vopal, Hildegarde Vopal, Sally Vopal and Katy J. Vopal; to discuss and share family history. I had phone conversations with George Vopal and Gladys Vopal; to discuss and share family history. To my cousins, I am still learning about how to scan photos correctly. The photos displayed on this website are sized and formatted for web viewing. I had scanned many photographs as jpg files, and am now rescanning photographs as tiff files for archival storage. If you would like any photographs, please email me and I can send you a good quality jpg or tiff file. I would appreciate any photographs that you would like to contribute for the website and the family archive of photographs.
Thank you to Paul Vopal for taking digital photos at the Milwaukee cemeteries of the Vopalensky / Vopal family tombstones.
